As I continue work on my massive paper relating musical meaning-creation to musical genre I become ever-more fascinated by music that is originally created in one genre, but then, somehow, becomes mutated into another. My original interest in genre grew from my interest in musics that didn’t fit into common or traditional genres or notions of genre. As my research and study continues, I’m encountering more and more somewhat bizarre crossovers. Here are some old favorites and recent discoveries of crossover weirdness.
